This wild-picked mountain tea (SIDERITIS SCARDICA) originates from Macedonia (Mount Galicica - Ohrid). It is a perennial medicinal plant with an erect quadrangular stem, weakly branched and up to 60 cm tall. It flowers from June to September when it is harvested.

 

It is used against colds, flu, fever, high fever, inflammation of the respiratory organs, bronchitis, inflammation of the stomach and intestines, anaemia. Some studies on tea have shown good results in heart disease (angina pectoris).Mountain tea is a diuretic and improves the work of the kidneys and urinary tract, helps remove kidney stones, urinary tract and bladder.

 

This plant has a lovely velvety texture and is also rich in essential oils. The tea has a fresh sweet, slightly lemony flavour to which delicious honey can also be added.

    The product is caffeine free

    Preparation:

    - Put 3-4 flowers/sprigs in 500ml of water and boil for 10 minutes. Leave covered for 5-7 minutes. Remove the sprigs and sweeten to taste (tastes better with honey).

     

    Or pour 1-2 teaspoons of ground tea (in sieve) with a cup of boiling water and leave for about 5 min. You can repeat the process several times until the colour and flavour have faded completely. For extra flavour, you can add honey or lemon.
