When we talk about the Ohrid Summer Festival, it is certain that its existence over many years indicates an awareness that the festival is based on something that indeed represents a great tradition. This tradition stems from the city of Ohrid - the spiritual capital of Macedonia, the ancient city with the magical blue lake, a city with a cultural history characterized by the values of ancient civilization, the city of the first Slavic university in Europe, the city of the kingdom of Samuil and finally - the city that represents the entire Macedonian cultural and spiritual history.

The Ohrid Summer Festival is a festival founded on August 4, 1961 and always takes place between July 12 and August 20 in the city of Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia. It is funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia and sponsors.
The festival has featured prominent artists since 1961, namely José Carreras. Since 1994, the festival has been a member of the European Festivals Association.Many world famous musicians such as Leonid Kogan, Svyatoslav Richter, Grigory Sokolov, Andre Navarra, Martina Arroyo, Henryk Szeryng, Ivo Pogorelić, Mstislav Rostropovich, Aldo Ciccolini, Gidon Kremer, Ruggiero Ricci, Viktor Tretiakov, Salvatore Accardo, Elena Obraztsova and Katia Ricciarelli are involved in the festival, Victoria de los Ángeles, Maxim Vengerov, Vadim Repin, Julian Rachlin, Michel Camilo, Paul Meyer, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Leo Nucci, Barbara Frittoli, Jessye Norman, Nigel Kennedy, Zubin Mehta, Ennio Morricone, Mikhail Pletnev, and many others have performed in Ohridski Leto.
